Judge Tom Whitney knows and loves all of Idaho. Over the past 30+ years he has worked as far north as Bonners Ferry (as a high school teacher) and as far south as Murphy (in his current capacity as District Judge). He is an avid outdoorsman and landscape photographer, and he backpacks year-round including in Idaho's Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness, in the Sawtooths, and in Idaho's Craters of the Moon National Monument. (All of the photos on this website were taken by him.) The first home he owned in Idaho required 8 cords of wood per winter which he felled and bucked each year in our national forests. He and his wife Helen are also avid runners. Helen has run 17 marathons including one on each of the seven continents. Tom has better judgment and has run only 2 marathons, one in 1983 and the other (and last) in 2019.
